Show Legion Ladies Entertain City Officials The Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion staged another successful party Thursday night, when they entertained in the Legion Memorial hall. The guests of the evening were tire retiring 'and the new city officers and their partners, and the Legion members. Activities commenced at 8 p. m. with the advance of the colors and an address of welcome by J. J. Mercer, Mer-cer, Jr., local commander. Mr. Mercer outlined the projects undertaken under-taken by the Legion and Auxiliary, two of them being the Memorial hall and the monument in the City cemetery. ceme-tery. He thanked the city officers for the past 12 years for the help and cooperation so freely given. H. E. McNiel, a Legion member, talked on "why the men who fought in the great war stick together." He said that from the local post 117 men had received hospitalization and of this number 43 had received approved ap-proved claims for permanent physical physi-cal disability and 28 were pending claims. Mayor Storrs and Mayor-elect Mayor-elect Adamson each expressed their appreciation to the Auxiliary ladies. Musical numbers were given by Mrs. Ora Chipman and Rulon Nicholes, accompanied by Mrs. West Ham-, Ham-, mond. After the program the group played play-ed "Legion" and lunch was served at the small tables. E. J. Seastrand and Mrs. Orval Mercer won the prizes. There were 80 present. Mrs. Hadie Iverson was general chairman of the entertainment. . Mrs Aaron Greenwood was in charge of the refreshments; Mrs. Delbert Chipman, games; Jed Mercer and Mrs. T. Graff, program; Mrs. Jed Mercer, invitation; and Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Beck the tables. |
