' ' ' Ten Years Ago Now (Taken from files of Aug. 23, 1924) The 17th annual convention and tournament of the Utah State Firemen's Fire-men's association held here Monday, Mon-day, Tuesday and Wednesday was a splendid success from beginning to end. Mrs. W. A. Homer was elected mieen of the convention with Miss Lucile Greenwood second and Miss Ma.ry Wilde third in the race for honors. In the election for officers, Chief I. L. Pratt was elected 1st vice-president of the state associa- Won. Motion pictures were taken on Main street of the crowds assembled to view the parade which were later shown at the Fealnrt Theatre, Ten Years Ago Now Governor Cht.rles R. Maybey was chosen G. O. P. standard bearer on the fhst ballot at the state Republican Republi-can convention held In Salt Lake City wf-dnt'sday, The honor was made bigger when the convention made the nomination by acclamation acclama-tion before the votes were counted. Ten Years Ago Now The announcement of the marriage marri-age of Miss Marjorie Crystal and Lynn Weeks was made known to their friends this week. The young couple surpriM-d their friends by slipping 'away on July 30th when the ceremony was performed. Ten Years Ago Now Wednesday while Mr. and Mrs. II. S. Rasmu.ssen and Miss Mary Cliri-Jensen and their guests, Mrs. Dye and son Arthur, who arrived recently from New York, were attending at-tending a theatre in Salt, Lake, the Rasmus; en car was stolen. It was recovered the next day having been abandoned on one of the avenues rifled of several packages, the spot light and smaller accessories. |
