Mrs. S. P. Grant and son, Elliott Lee, attended the funeral in Cgden Sunday of Mrs. George B. Lee, victim vic-tim of an automobile accident near Brigham City in which she was instantly killed. Mrs. Emma Chase and grandson, Chase Reeder, accompanied ac-companied them to Ogcicn and spent the day visiting. Several Democrats of this city were among the guests who attended attend-ed the banquet given in the Hotel Roberts, Provo, last Friday night. William R. Wallace of Salt Lake, chairman of the state water storage "commission, was host. Mr. Wallace pointed out the greatest need of Utah today as being an increase in the irrigation water supply. Means of increasing the water supply for .irrigation purposes in this state by bringing water into the Salt Lake basin from the Colorado river, Green river and Duchesne sections were discussed by Mr. Wallace. Messrs. Ray Shelley and C. A. Grant "Tab" and "Bun" appeared on the program with musical entertainment, accompanied accom-panied by Mrs. Shelley. Mrs- James Shelley is spending this week at Gandy, Utah, with Mr. and Mrs- John Singleton. S- T. Blaine Van Wagoner has- purchased pur-chased the Herbert Street home in the Second ward and after some re-modeling re-modeling work is completed will move in. Mrs- M- L- Baird and children returned re-turned Wednesday from a visit of two weeks spent in Logan with Mrs. Baird's parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. M. Thompson. Mr- and Mrs- Dale Briggs motored in from Elko, Nevada, accompanied by Mrs. Briggs' sister, Miss Nellie Strong, who had spent two months with them there. Mrs- Kenneth Brown entertained last Friday afternoon in compliment to her niece, Mrs. May Christensen Sorenson, a recent bride- Games were enjoyed during the afternoon, directed by Mrs. Wilson Cunningham, Cunning-ham, after which a delicious lunch was served. Mrs. Sorenson was presented pre-sented with a number of lovely gifts. The guests numbered fifteen. Mr- and Mrs. Orval C. Mercer left by bus' Wednesday morning for Chicago w"here they will attend the World's Fair- They will be away two weeks- The Mercers attended the Fair last year -and were so impressed im-pressed with their visit they decided de-cided to avail themselves, of the oijportunity given by the continuation continua-tion of the Fair this season. Mrs. James Chipman, Mrs. Lee Halstrom and Miss Stella Green left early Thursday morning on a 'trip east. They will make Chicago their first stop, where they will visit the fair and will then travel to Niagara Falls and Buffalo. Mrs-Chipman Mrs-Chipman will leave the party at Erie, Pennsylvania, and go from there to Albion where she will visit her sister, Mrs- E- C. Waser while Mrs. Halstrom and Miss Green visit in New York City. They expect to i Miss Grace Read of Heber is visiting visit-ing here with her sister, Mrs. Clifford Cliff-ord Miller and family. Miss Grace Parker has returned home from the Lehi hospital having recently undergone an operation for appendicitis. Miss Etta Abel is spending two weeks here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. Edward Abel. She is from Los Angeles, where she is employed. em-ployed. Mrs. Lennie Abel, formerly Miss Helen Bird, leaves today for her lrme in Huntington Park, California, Califor-nia, after spending a month here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. K. J. Bird.. Mr. -and Mrs. Nile Roberts are the happy parents of a baby girl, born Tuesday. The mother, formerly Miss Kate Karren, and the babe are doing nicely at the home of Mrs. Roberts parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Karren. The members of the family of Mrs. Martha Parker together with their families spent Thursday afternoon after-noon and evening at Saratoga. There were 36 in all and everyone enjoyed swimming and a tasty lunch. The birthday anniversary last Friday Fri-day of Mrs. R. J. Stice was the occasion oc-casion for a happy surprise tendered her at her home that afternoon by twelve lady friends. The party was held on the lawn where the usual social diversions were indulged in followed by the serving of a delicious lunch. Complimentary to Mrs. Lennis Abel Miss Etta Abel, visiting here from California, Miss Ann Clayson entertained enter-tained last evening at her home. The guests enjoyed playing "Keeno" after which a dainty lunch was served serv-ed to the following: Mrs. Lennis Abel, Miss Etta Abel, Mrs. Sam Walker, Mrs. Dave Warnick, Mrs. Eli J. Tuesday evening the officers and teachers of the Third ward Sunday School together with several special guests enjoyed an outing at Saratoga. Sara-toga. The special guests included; the members of the former- bishop--ric, and officers of the Sunday School who have been released; Swimming in the plunges was- first' enjoyed after which a program; was given consisting of a reading, by Mrs. Mr- and Mrs. Llewellyn Pratt and children, Keith and Norma Dawn, have returned to Los Angeles, after spending a week in Utah. While here they were guests of Mr- and Mrs. I. L. Pratt, and three days were spent in Logan with Mrs. Pratt's parents, Mr. and Mrs- J. Watt Starrs and with Mr- and Mrs. Glenn Storrs- Tuesday, being the 8th birthday of Miss Betty Rae Pratt, granddaughter grand-daughter of Mr. and Mrs. I. L-Pratt, L-Pratt, a birthday celebration was observed by the members of the Pratt family residing here, at Saratoga Sara-toga in the evening. There were eighteen in the party and after an return here by Septemtar 15. While Mrs- Chipman is away her granddaughter, grand-daughter, Miss Nan Chipman, will be with her mother, Mrs. Ray Rose-braugh, Rose-braugh, in Salt Lake until September Septem-ber 8th, when Mrs. Rosebaugh leaves for the World's Fair as a member of the Salt Lake tabernacle choir- Miss Chipman will spend the remaining week from the 8th to the 15th here with Mrs- Lenard Ohio-man Ohio-man until heir grandmother returns. re-turns. The Salt Lake tabernacle choir will give twelve concerts .in Chicago sponsored by Henry Ford, which will be broadcast over the radio, and will also appear in St. Louis, and Independence, Missouri, and once in Denver. The ladies of the Bee Orchis club and their husbands gave a party at the Cave Camp in American Fork ! canyon Wednesday night. A supper, I with delicious hamburger fried over the camp fire as a main item was invigorating swim followed by games a tasty lunch was enjoyed. Mrs- Melissa Boley entertained nine of her grandsons at a chicken dinner at her home Tuesday- Mrs. Boley was assisted in serving by her granddaughter, Miss Melissa Greenwood. Green-wood. They visited with friends and also went to the scene of the recent tram wreck in that vicinity. Ten young lady friends of Mrs. David Wagstaff pleasantly surprised her at her home Tuesday evening. The girls took their supper with them which was prepared and eaten early in the evening. Afterwards games were played.
