Show Water Users To Apply For Fund lo AidJDefense mWENDANTS PREPARE FINANCES FOR BIG WATER SUIT PROVO-Appropriatlons of $5000 each from Uie federal bureau of agricultural ag-ricultural engineering and Utah state agricultural experiment station will be sought by water users of Utah Wasatch and south Summit counties who are defendants in the water suit brought by Salt Lake county interests in-terests to adjudicate the rights of Utah lake-Jordan river waters. The money will be used to help defray expenses of surveys already started to make an extensive study of the use of Utah lake drainage waters, said Elmer A. Jacob of Provo, secretary of the executive committee of water users of the three counties. Resolutions to ask for the appro- pi unions were passed by the executive execu-tive committee at a meeting here Saturday evening, Mr. Jacob said. It is also planned to assess all the area in the three counties obtaining water from the Provo river and adjacent ad-jacent watersheds at the rate of 5 cents per acre. With slightly more than 150,000 acres in this area, the amount that would be raised to match federal funds would be approximately ap-proximately $7500, Mr. Jacob pointed point-ed out. The surveys, besides determining the seepage returns and consumptive use of water on the various lands throughout the three counties, will also provide information on types of soil and crops grown on these lands. Attend Session Those attending Saturday's meeting meet-ing were: W. J. Cordner of Orem, vice chairman, who presided in the absence of Frank Wentz of Orem, chairman; Roy Taylor, representing the Spanish Fork area; J. O. Stone, president of the Provo River Water Companies association, representing that area; Virgil Peterson, representing repre-senting the Lehi area; David Clay-burn Clay-burn of Midway and I. E. Baum of Heber representing the Wasatch county area; T. H.. McNeill of Ka-mas, Ka-mas, representing Wasatch and South Kamas Irrigation companies, and Mr. Jacob and Mr. Israelsen..
