Show Local Man Honored With Gov. Appointment Appointment of Mark H. Greene, professor of business and economics econom-ics at the University of Utah, as state chairman of the President's emergency reemployment commit- tee, was announced Tuesday. Professor Greene was recommed-ed recommed-ed for the post by Governor Henry H. Blood, and word of his appointment appoint-ment was received' by Gus P. Back-man, Back-man, general secretary of the Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce, from. General Hugh S. Johnson, national j ' recovery administrator. Professor Greene said Tuesday night mayors and presidents of chambers of commerce of principal Utah cities also will be included in the state committee, which plans immediately to organize a statewide state-wide reemployment campaign. He expressed the opinion the fed- eral administration will leave to the states the problem of planning re-employment re-employment campaigns, and added that the Utah committees will proceed pro-ceed immediately with plans, without with-out waiting for word from other' states regarding policies. ! The reemployment campaign will center in the larger communities of the state, the new chairman said, since smaller towns are not deemed deem-ed to face such serious reemployment reemploy-ment problems. Mr. Greene is an American Fork "boy", a son of Alva Greene of this city. He was an instructor in the high school here some years ago. |
