Show Numerous Local WPA Projects Approved American Fork City and the Alpine Al-pine School district had projects totaling $37,114 approved along with the $2,000,000 allotted to the various Utah counties this week. American Fork City's projects approved ap-proved was a road improvement program pro-gram for $7,708 and a bridge pioject for $1,858. The School district program pro-gram includes building in all four high school units of the district. Announcement out of the Provo office Monday said: Project work totaling more than $2,000,000 in value has been approved in district three of the Works Progress Pro-gress Administration in Utah, according ac-cording to Ben H. Beveridge, director. direc-tor. Evidence that the money on the projects is going to the people for whom it was intended is shown in the fact that in the district only 2.3 per cent of the workers on tire projects are non-relief, although a maximum of 10 per cent is allowed. The district includes 19 counties in southern Utah. Some of tire projects, proj-ects, such as the school lunch work, covers the entire district. In an effort to place all able-bodied able-bodied men on project work and take them off relief rolls, a great number num-ber of projects have been approved. the not previously listed in Utah county are as follows: Pioneer Memorial building and museum, Provo, $11,733; Pleasant Grove high school, dressing rooms, $3,900; running track, bleachers,! $826; completion of high school building, Lehi, $12,018; American Fork, school kitchen, Harrington building, $521; Lincoln high school, larger dressing rooms, $3,407; American Ameri-can Fork, add one story to junior high school, $4,774; Alpine, tennis courts, roller skating rinks, $469; Provo cemetery project, $2,375; Lincoln Lin-coln high school, athletic field, $666; Alpine city hall and jail, $11,923; Lehi road graveling, $3,842; Ameri-jcan Ameri-jcan Fork, bleachers, $1,438; bridge construction, $1,858; city street improvements, im-provements, 21.5 miles, $7,708; Lehi, streets, $2,253; Spring Lake, roads, $2,055; Vineyard, roads, $1,282. |
