Show Miss Hermes Peterson Gives Talk To Primary Officers Miss Hermes Peterson, formerly of this city, but for several years a teacher at the B. Y. U. gave a very interesting an'd instructive talk to stake and ward Primary officers at the monthly officers meeting. She explained ex-plained that in all teaching of children, child-ren, it is not what we teach, but what the child gives out in conduct that is worth while. A road well begun j is a race half won. In Primary work it is very necessary to be at the meeting ahead of the children, ready to receive them in an orderly way with a kindly smile. What we practice prac-tice continually is what we become. Children should have ian outlet in emotion. Every good wish is a prayer pray-er and every kind deed is an answer to prayer. Do not begin your lesson with "what did we talk about last week," show a picture or create something some-thing concrete an'd entertaining to illustrate your lesson. Do not say "If you'll be quiet while I give the lesson I'll tell you a story." Think how you can make your lesson interesting to the children, child-ren, change your method of giving the lesson to give variety to your lesson, work. Talking too much is a teachers mistake. Let children participate in the lesson. Learning to do is child-rens' child-rens' means of education. Let children help make rules for discipline and they will be more apt to aid In being orderly. In your teaching teach-ing tie your subject closely together as the chain is no stronger than its weakest link. So every link must he made strong. j |
