Show v First Meeting of Ladies Democratic Democra-tic Study Group Tire first meeting of the Democratic Democra-tic Ladies Study Group was held Thursday afternoon of last week in the civic room of the library, with an attendance of twenty-two women, wo-men, representing the four American Ameri-can Fork districts. Mrs. W. H. Callahan, Calla-han, lady chairman of the county Democratic organization, met with the women and outlined the purpose of the study groups and the plan under which they operate as outlined by a national committee. The plan is known as a nation wide campaign of education and information under what is known as the "reporter plan." The "reporter" movement provides that every organization of Democratic Democra-tic women apoiiit 22 women, assigning assign-ing each according to her special interest in-terest in either agriculture, industry, finance, public welfare, conservation or relief, to serve as a "reporter'' for one of the new governmental ag'-n- cies. Under this plan, Mrs. Callahan Calla-han pointed out, every Democratic woman can learn something about every one of the 22 agencies and all about one of them. Mrs. Callahan was emphatic in ht-r belief that wornm are coming to be recognized as a potent power in politics, and one to be reckoned with. The fir.-t Wednesday of every month was .selected as the meeting I day for the Study Group. Mrs. Glen Svkes. nre.-ident of the organization, was in elv.rtre of the meeting. Light refreshments were served. At the first meeting in September a report will be made upon an investigation in-vestigation into the government plan to assist students who wish to attend at-tend universities and who haven't the means. |
