Show Utah-Juab County Firemen Hold Convention i 1 The Utah and Juab county fire-I fire-I mens convention was held at Pleas-, ' ant Grove at the city park Sunday, 1 August 12, at 2 o'clock p. m. Chief Clyde Scott of Provo, president presi-dent of the organization, was in charge, with secretary Clarence Duke of Provo present. Mayor W-W- Lim welcomed the visitors and turned the keys of the city over to the firemen. Matters of interest to the organization was discussed and short talks were given by new officers;, offi-cers;, recently elected- ; Under the direction of fireman Ike Hayes, the new booster tank, which holds 110 gallons of water, the only one in Utah county, was demonstrated, showing how small fires can be put out readily without the aid of any water, other than that carried by the fire department. The salvage cover during a fire I was demonstrated by Vem Cullimore, Culli-more, L. L. La;rson and Archie Bor-en Bor-en of the Pleasant Grove depart-' ment, showing how nice furniture need not be removed from the house to prevent being damaged by water- At the close of these two demonstrations demon-strations the following musical program pro-gram was given, under the direction direc-tion of E. A- Beck: Two trumpet solos, Nellie Blackwell; two, piano selections Elda Neves; two readings, Jane Walker; two clarinet solos, Alfred Al-fred Dexter; two saxaphone solos, John Peterson. A Dutch lunch, prepared by the refreshment committee, composed of Ray Frampton, Raymond Nelson and Archie Boren, was served to about one hundred firemen and guests- The next meeting of this organization will be held at Provo. the first Sunday in October. |
