Show John R. Halliday To Study Music At Rochester John R. Halliday, instructor in music at Brigham Young university, and a native of Pleasant Grove, left Provo Sunday to take up advanced music study at Rochester, New York, during a , two years' leave of absence. He was accompanied by Mrs. Halliday Hal-liday and his family. En route they will visit Yellowstone National park, the Black Hills of South Dakota, Chicago, Ontario, Canada, and Niagara Nia-gara Falls. Mr. Halliday will enroll in the Eastman School of Music of the University Uni-versity of .Rochester, and will work toward a Ph. D. degree in the theory of music. Mr. Halliday took his A. B. in music at Brigham Young university in 1935, and his M. A. in 1936. He has also studied at the State Academy Aca-demy of Music at Berlin, and at the University of California. |
