Show Plans for Rodeo Celebration Celebra-tion Nearly Completed I All arrangements axe now prac-1 j tically completed for Lehi's annua! Utah Sugar Beet Rodeo Celebra-; Celebra-; tion, to be held August 17, 18 ana 1 19. Committees have been hard at work arranging details for the eel ebration and promise the citizenrj of Lehi one of the best ever held here before. The thr;e days will be filled with activities for both young and old. The first day's activities commence com-mence with a Grand Parade at 1:00 P. M. A big feature of the parade will be the huge float, pro- ' vid".a by the Sugar company fci the three queens, Miss Utah, Mis; Lehi and Miss Saratoga. Thes" three young ladies will ride on the float in royalty and will reign during dur-ing the entire - celebration. The contest for the selection of the queens is going forward at the present pres-ent with great interest. The Lehi City Band will lead the parade, the queens float will follow, fol-low, and then will come the big miniature section, featuring children child-ren under ten years of age. All business " places will be represented with floats and the various ward church organizations are planning unique floats, civic organizations, etc. will also be represented. Nations and characters of every description will be depicted in gay colored floats. Every child participating in the parade will be given a prize by the Lions club and will be admitted free to the first day's entertainment, entertain-ment, as guests of the club. The parade will assemble on the school grounds at one o'clock, led by the Rodeo riders, then will follow fol-low the queen's float and then the miniature parade. They will go south on center street to Main street, thence west to the D. & R. G. railroad. At this point the children's parade will turn north and disband at the depot. The larger part of the parade will continue con-tinue to Fifth West, thence to the Rodeo Grounds. Mr. Leo Hanson and Mr. Kirk-ham Kirk-ham in charge of the parade encourage en-courage boys and girls to enter the parade. Do not wait until you are invited, but decorate a float and enter. Some suggestive characters to represent are as follows: Indians, In-dians, Pioneers, Amos and Andy, Maggie and Jiggs, Chester, Elmer, Goat carts, dog carts, ponies, tricycles, tri-cycles, coons, bicycles, old veteran soldiers, nations, flowers, vegetables, vegeta-bles, comics, etc. All three days big rodeo performances perfor-mances will be held featuring noted I riders, ropers and rodeo performers, j Fifteen hundred dollars in prize money will be given away. The events of the rodeo will include bronc riding contest, calf roping contest, team roping, bareback con-j con-j test, wild horse roping, horse rac-iing, rac-iing, etc. Each event will be a j thrilling performance and no one lean afford to miss the shows. The chutes, grandstands, etc. I have been put in excellent con-Idition con-Idition and everything is in readiness readi-ness for one of the biggest rodeo's ever presented in this section of the country before. Each evening there will be wrestling wrest-ling bouts and other features are being planned to entertain the immense crowds who are expected to throng the grounds. There- will be a grand carnival on the grounds daily and dancing at Saratoga resort will also be a 'big entertaining feature. ;' Banners have, been placed, across I main street, advertising the , celebration cele-bration and everything will soon be !in readiness for the events planned joy the committees. |
