Show u Baby of Mr. and Mrs. Harlow Jones Laid At Rest Impressive funeral services were held Monday afternoon, August 12, at 2 p. m. in the First ward chapel for little Barbara Jean, 14 months old daughter of Harlow and Thelma Boley Jones, who died at a Salt Lake hospital at 1:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon, August 10. The child fell down a stairway more than a week ago, and suffered concussion of the brain. She received treatment and was released from the hospital. Last Thursday complications set in and spinal meningitis developed. Counselor E. J. Seastrand was in charge. The opening musical number num-ber was a vocal solo "My Father Knows" sung by Rulon Nicholes. Patriarch Warren B. Smith gave the opening prayer, followed by a vocal selection "The Children's Friend" by Mrs. Leah Green. The speakers were Bishop James T. Gardner, Professor Edward Hinckley of Provo, and President C. E. Young. Each of them conveyed many words of consolement to the bereaved parents par-ents and relatives. Interspersing the speakers Mrs. Edith G. Young sang a vocal solo "That Sweet Story of Old" and little Miss Virginia McGrew and Master Merlin McGrew sang a duet "I'll Be A Sunbeam For Jesus." The closing number was "Come Unto Me" sung by the First ward quartet composed of Mrs. Ruth Johnson, Mrs. Eleanor Grant,- John H. Davis and C. A. Grant. The benediction was pronounced by Len-ard Len-ard Haag. Interment was made in the City cemetery where John II. Davis dedicated dedi-cated the grave. The meeting house was packed to capacity, and the floral offerings completely com-pletely covered the rostrum and casket. Masters Martell Bloomquist, Keith McGrew, Glen Greenwood and Carter Boley acted as pall bearers. The small cousins of the deceased baby served as flower girls. |
