Show Local Items Mrs. Alarum TLschner and family of Santaquin, visited Sunday at t.he home of her sister, Mrs. Elgin Lee, who has been ill for the past week. American Fork people attending the funeral services of Miss Pearl Searle, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Searle, which were held in Bur-ley, Bur-ley, Idaho, Sunday, were Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Searle, Mi-, and Mrs. Leslie Searle, Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Parker, Ross Parker, Kenneth Searle Mr. and Mrs. Lindsey Ovard, Miss Ruth Parker, Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Moffctt. Mr. and Mrs. Reldon Heaps of Salt Lake also attended the services. Miss Searle died after a lingering illness of heart trouble. Fred Houston, son of Dr. and Mrs. V. F. Houston, was host to 20 little friends at a birthday party on his seventh birthday Monday afternoon. Childrens games were played followed follow-ed by refreshments. Mi-, and Mrs. Carl Peterson and son of Clovis, New Mexico, are visiting visit-ing here at the home of Mrs. Peterson's Peter-son's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Bate. They came at this time be- J cause of the serious illness of Mrs. Bate, who is reported some what improved. The Happy-Go-Lucky club met at the home of Mrs. Charles Gaisford Tuesday afternoon. Their project for the week was the cooking of cereal. They also planned a trip to Provo for the annual 4-H Campfire outing Thursday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Raber or Boise, Idaho, are visiting this week in American Fork and vicinity. Sunday guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Chamberlain were, Mr. and Mrs. F. E. Simmons and family, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Carr and family of Salt Lake City, and Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Allen of Manila. Mrs. Gilbert Graham and daughter, daugh-ter, Barbara, are visiting this week at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William J. Crystal. Mr. 'and Mrs. A. W. Clyde, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Humphries, Mr. and Mrs. Owen Humphries and family of this city, and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Clar-ence Baker of Tooele, spent the past week-end at Strawberry. Mrs. Ruth Crystal and grandson, Glen Crystal, left Sunday for North Hollywood, accompaning Mr. and Mrs. Reed Crystal, Mary Jense and Florence Oscarson of Pleasant Grove. They will be the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Crystal and other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Owen Humphries entertained at a beefsteak fry in American Fork canyon Wednesday evening in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Sylvania St. John, Mr. and Mrs. La-Drew La-Drew Roberts and Ed Tregonning of Los Angeles, and Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Roberts of Lehi. The Soldiers Bonus Celebration dance will be held tomorrow night at Saratoga. All soldiers, their partners part-ners and friends are invited to come to this popular dance resort and enjoy the celebration planned for you. Byron Dastrup and his band will furnish the music. The "Jolly Sewing Club" met at the home of their leader, Helen Green, Wednesday at 2 o'clock. The following officers were elected: Hanna Reimschiissel, president; Geraldine Green, vice-president; Phyllis Stewart, secretary and treasurer; Joye Johnson, song and cheer leader,' and Ray Healey, reporter. re-porter. They will meet every Wednesday Wed-nesday at 2 o'clock. Mrs. Alma Olsen entertained at a dinner party Monday in honor of Mrs. Lewellyn Pratt and daughter, Dawn, who were visiting here from Los Angeles. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Morton of Los Angeles were visitors last week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jarvis Aydelotte. Mrs. Morton and Mrs. Aydelotte are sisters. Mrs. Jesse Birch and daughter, Patricia, spent the past week in Salt Lake at the home of Mr. Birch's mother, Mrs. R. W. Birch. A. B. Allen, who is taking a special course in landscaping at the Utah State Agricultural College in Logan, spent the past week-end at his home here. Mrs. Eldon Chipman returned last week from Vernal where she had been for two weeks visiting at the home of her mother, Mrs. Myrtle Erekson. Mr. and Mrs. Dean Cook of Leslie, Idaho, and Mrs. Fannie Chamberlain Chamber-lain of Cedar Valley, visited Monday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Chamberlain. Miss Fransen has a large circle of friends in this city made during the year and a half she resided here at the home of Mrs, MeMn Grant. Those from this city attending the reception were Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Grant, Miss Lillie Shafter, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Grant, Mrs. Lyle Grant, Dorothy Grant, Selma Seastrand, Eldon Miller, Virginia Cook, Max Jones, and Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Grant. Mrs. Melvin Grant was a member of the bridal party. Mrs. Sidney Nicholes Jr. was hostess hos-tess to the members of the Boney Briers club at her home Wednesday afternoon.. Mrs. J. W. Storrs of Los Angeles is visiting this week with relatives in American Fork. She is staying at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Alma Olsen. Ol-sen. Week-end guests at the Olsen home were George A. Storrs and Mr. and Mrs. L. J. Batchelor of Salt Lake 'City, and Mr. and Mrs. Mark Nichols of Riverton. - Among the out of town people attending at-tending the funeral services of John W. Jensen, Mrs. Verla Harris, Boyd and Keith Coddington, Salt Lake City; Mrs. John Okey, Provo. Mrs. Emma Chase returned to her home in Salt Lake Sunday after visiting for the past two weeks at the home of her sister, Mrs. Samuel Grant. Mr. and Mrs. Vern Rife of Eureka were visitors Monday evening at the home of Mrs. Hannah Rhodes. Sunday Sun-day Mr. and Mrs. Trus Bodell and family of Salt Lake called at the Rhodes home. Mr. and Mrs. Clair Christensen announce the arrival of a baby girl born Wednesday, June 10, at the Lehi hospital. All concerned are doing nicely. Mrs. Ernest Johnson and baby and Mrs. Bob Baker and baby of Venial are visiting at the home of their sister, Mrs. Eldon Chipman. They attended the M. I. A. convention in Salt Lake City the past week-end. A union meeting of all stake and ward Genealogical workers will be held Sunday at 2 p. m. in the basement base-ment of the tabernacle. Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Moffett and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Greenwood left Wednesday morning for a ten day trip to the Pacific Northwest. Mrs. Leo Meredith, president of the local Parent -Teacher organization, organiza-tion, has attended the course given durmg this week at the B. Y. for teachers and patrons interested in this work. Miss LaRae Grant, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Melvm, Grant, celebrated cele-brated her sixth birthday anniversary anniver-sary Thursday, June 11, at an attractively at-tractively arranged party. Twenty-five Twenty-five of her little friends were present pres-ent and enjoyed childrens games and the lunch served by Mrs. Grant. Miss Nina Halliday left Wednesday Wednes-day for California where she will enroll for the summer school at the University of Southern Calif. She will study music. Mrs. Myron P. West of Brigham City will accompany accom-pany Miss Halliday and also study at the school. Mrs. L. C. Grant was hostess to the members of the Variety club at three tables of bridge at the Bromley Brom-ley club rooms Monday afternoon. Other guests were Mrs. Rulon Peter- son of Lehi and Mrs. Frank Brown and Mrs. Kenneth Noyes of this city. Mrs. Peterson won the guest prize and Mrs. Ray Shelley the club prize. Mrs. Lee Giddings and two daughters daugh-ters of Junction City, Oregon, spent Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday Sun-day at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Luther Giddings and family. Mrs. Giddings and daughters are enroute to Washington, D. C, to visit with her mother. Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Luther Giddings motored to Salt Lake with them and visited places of interest before Mrs. Giddings' train left for the East. Mrs. Stanley Peters was hostess j s to the members of the Young Bridge club and guests at her home Friday afternoon. The special guests were Mrs. John Clarke, Mrs. Lloyd Tre-gaskis, Tre-gaskis, Mrs. John Varney, Mrs. De-Vere De-Vere Wootton, Mrs. Lawrence Niel-son, Niel-son, Mrs. Floyd Hallsey, Mrs. Tom Reece, Mrs. Glen Baker and Mrs. Leo Van Wagner.
