Show Road Shows Please Large Audiences In each of the four wards of American Fork there was a large attendance at the annual stake M. I. A. road shows winch were presented pre-sented simultaneously in merry-go-round fashion Tuesday night. On Wednesday night the road shows were presented in the Alpine amusement amuse-ment hall inasmuch as the Highland High-land ward people are deprived of their meeting house while the remodeling re-modeling program is on. The general opinion expressed was that the shows compared very favorably with those of other years and many compliments have been extended the players and their directors- There was no judging this year and no prizes were awarded. The acts were as follows: Highland WardA' playlet entitl ed "The Exchange," depicting ar office in which a "judge", and hi ' "imp" hear the complaints of people really well off in life who are dis satisfied and wish to exchange min or troubles for someone else's com plaints. Their wishes are grantee and the tumult that ensues whei the beautiful lady exchanges he: I wrinkles for deafness, the poor man exchanges his shabby clothes and ' good health for wealth and indigestion indiges-tion and the wealthy man ex-changes ex-changes his boredon for a milkman's milk-man's life, and the final climax when the "judge" writes that he is sick of complaining humanity never satisfied with its lot and is never coming back "brought down the house." First Ward The act presented by this ward was entitled "Treasures ' of Truth " The scene was a dark attic of "Sally's" house and she and ; her friend "Bob" are prowling ; around among old furniture in search of some things to put in the . girl's M. I. A. "Treasures of Truth" f book Peering into a dusty trunk , with flashlights they bring forth ' pictures, books, clothing, etc., un-t un-t portant in the life of the girl and as t they reminisce, there appear m the s background the living pictures as s real as leaves from an old family album- Second Ward The Second waras act was quaint and charming. A scene from "The Chimes of Normandy" Nor-mandy" was depicted in prologue, song and dance. . The costuming of this act was outstanding and to the many who like singing this act appealed. ap-pealed. The gay little song and dance numbers were well rendered- Third ward -The uieme act . presented by the Third ward was out of the ordinary. "The Journey Jour-ney of Life" was the title. "Life" portrayed by a pretty young woman was awakened from her slumber and surrounded by "Wisdom" and ."Conscience" and "Love" and other good characters, she listens to the pleadings of "Youth" and admits into in-to her life "Temptation" and Curiosity" Cur-iosity" and similar characters while the good influences of her life depart de-part The climax depicts "Death stripped of mystery and fear and as a welcome spirit leads "Life' back into eternity. Fourth Ward-The "Depression, Fashion Show" staged by the Fourth ward brought forth many a hearty laugh. There are many who are wondering where all the old time costumes came from- The shop keeper and the prima donna Introduced characters, who, tired of wearing worn out clothing during this depression have delved into attic at-tic trunks and brought forth outmoded out-moded clothing which become instantly in-stantly popular. The younger people peo-ple especially derived a great deal of amusement at the swanky garbs of yesterday. Musical entertainment was furnished furn-ished between acts by the various wards. |
