Show Radio, Screen, 3 Stage Stars In "Big Broadcast" A dozen big time radio entertainers entertain-ers in addition to a strong line-up of screen and stage talent has been assembled as-sembled by Paramount to make "The Big Broadcast of 1937," which plays Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, January 17, 18 and 19, at the Cameo Theatre, the most lavish production of its kind. With Jack iBenny, George Burns and Gracie Allen, Bob Burns, Martha Mar-tha Raye, Benny Goodman and his Swing Orchestra, and Leopold Sto-kowski Sto-kowski and his Symphony Orchestra heading the list of radio headliners, and Shirley Ross, Ray Milland, Frank Forest, Eleanore' Whitney representing Hollywood, "The Big Broadcast of 1937" is an all-star attraction at-traction whose individual performers perform-ers have followings running into the millions. The story is a comic treatment of the broadcasting business. Benny, as station master, has the unenviable unenvi-able job of keeping Gracie Allen, sponsor of an important program, happy. He is also responsible for keeping Shirley Ross off the air so that she won't annoy Forest, an orchestra or-chestra leader. But Miss Ross gets on the air teaming with Forest, to the good fortune of the audience. She and Ray Milland carry the love interest. |
