Show City and Water Company to Decide 0n Ditch Albert Rowley, watermaster on the east side of town met with the city council last Saturday night, as a representative of the American Fork Irrigation Co., and requested permission per-mission to construct an irrigation ditch on the east side of 5th East street from Main street south to the state highway. The council dismissed dis-missed the matter which was finally referred to the street committee to confer with the Irrigation Co. officers, offi-cers, and if it is found necessary to have this ditch m-ade, the Irrigation Irriga-tion Co., is tD furnish all culverts necessary to complete the job. A communication received from H. S. Kerr, Chief Engineer of the State Road Commission, stating that in order to provide greater safety for the traffic, on extending the state highway we.t on Main street, the Salt Lake & Utah B. B. Co. has been requested to extend the pavement pave-ment over the company tracks westerly west-erly at least the distance where the tracks center the street. Engineer Kerr requested that the city use all influence available to have the railroad rail-road company do this work. The mayor and street committee were asked to give immediate attention to this matter. The monthly reports of the various vari-ous city officers for the month of July, with the exception of the treasurer and recorder were read and approved. Instruction was given the Public Property committee to gather in all city band instruments. Recorder Barrait called the attention atten-tion of the council to the fact that the current tax levy should be fixed ro that a copy could be filed in the office of f.hs Utah County Commission Commis-sion and ths State Tax Commission by the first of August, jut than to date no reco-.-i of the tax valuation hid been received. The recorder further pointed out that revenues were not coming in as anticipated, and care should be exercised in fixing fix-ing the levy or the city would complete com-plete the present year with a large I deficit.. The matter of considering I the levy was therefore deferred, subject sub-ject to the arrival of the valuation I sheet' from the" county. 0 |
