Show Heiser, Noted Scientist, Lecturing Lectur-ing In Utah Dr. Victor G. Heiser, noted physician phy-sician and scientist, will lecture on "Important Factors That Influence HonlUi", as tho opening number on the Master Minds nnd Artists Series sponsored by tho Extension Division of the University of Utah. Tho lec- I tare will begin at 8:15 p. m. Wednesday, Wed-nesday, October 20, in Kingsbury Hull. Devoting his time and energy to the saving and prolongation of human hu-man life, Dr. Heiser hus been, since he narrowly escaped drowning in the historic Johnstown Hood, one of the most effective "salesmen" of health. As Director of Health in the Philli-pines, Philli-pines, and traveling representative for the Rockefeller Foundation, Dr. Heiser has combntted in out of the way places all over the world with remarkable success such diseases as cholera, smallpox, berl berl, leprosy, and tuberculosis which have ravaged ravag-ed the world since Biblical times. The study and cure of leprosy is a special hobby with him. Dr. Heiser's tact and experience make him a favorite on the lecture platform. As the second number on the series, Kathryn Melsle, leading contralto con-tralto of the Metropolitan Opera Company, will appear in a recital November 29. Eight seasons with the San Francisco Opero Company and appearances in Los Angeles, Seattle, Portland, and the Hollywood Holly-wood Bowl have established her i popularity on the Pacific Coast. December 7 Utah people will have the opportunity to hear J. B. Priestley Priest-ley speak on "The American Responsibility". Re-sponsibility". Among Priestley's 11- torary works, immensely popular in both Europe and America, are: "The Good Companions", "Angel Pavement", Pave-ment", "English Journey", "Faraway", "Far-away", "Dangerous Corners" and j "Midnight On the Desert". 1 I Other notable attractions being ' brought to the University of Utah ' during the coming winter and spring are: Honorable Agnes Macphail, first woman member of Canada's Parliament; Captain John D. Craig, ' explorer, deep-sea diver and Holly-iwood Holly-iwood producer of thrill pictures; Josef Hofmann, one of the greatest living pianists; Thomas Mann, No-; No-; bel Prize Winner and Continental Europe's most eminent Man of Letters; Let-ters; Dr. George Earle Raiguel, authority on national and International Interna-tional affairs; and Jacques Cartier, America's foremost dramatic dancer. |
