Show Storm Finishes In Whirlwind Style After handing out a week's weather weath-er of every nature from snow to rain and sunshine old man winter concluded con-cluded the seven day period with one of the worst blizzards we have experienced ex-perienced in years. Shortly after S p. m. Friday he tore loose with a fierce north wind and threw in a little snow storm to make things interesting. in-teresting. No let up was given until after midnight. During the three hour period power and telephone lines suffered, highways were blocked, cars stalled and snow drifts pilled high where ever wind breaks permitted. permit-ted. In many instances accidents occured when drivers, blinded by the blizzard, drove into ditches, poles and fences. The thermometer dropped suddenly to two degress below zero from a temperature which brought rain all Friday afternoon and early evening. Slushy streets and rain spattered walks and buildings were instantly changed to slick Icy paths. Only a few inches of snow fell but the strong icy wind made a terrible night for all who happened to be out. This is only the second time this winter the official thermometer has gone below zero, seven degrees below being registered reg-istered Wednesday morning. o |
