Show Stake's Old Folk Feted In Grand Style Dinner was served to 300 of American Amer-ican Fork's Old Polks, the widows and widowers of the community also being the guests of .the day. The committees in charge headed by Roy Greenwood and Mrs. Alma Earl, did a most remarkable piece of work in making this a day of joy for these people. All gathered at the tabernacle by noon and after a period of geniel gocd spirit and handshaking, were seated at the long tables in the basement. The dinner proved to be a banquet with everything from roast and chicken to pie and cake and all the fixings that go with such a msal. Each and every one was urged to eat some more as the supply sup-ply seemed to be inexhaustable. The tables were decorated with vaces of pink, white and red carnations and. ferns. During the dinner hour music was furnished by Rulon Brimhall on , his accordian. The afternoon program was very well attended and enjoyed by every one. Numbers were given as follows: fol-lows: three selections by the high school band; reading, Mrs. Mary E. Abel; harmonica solo, Alva Goodall; remarks. Evar Strasburg chairman of Highland; Chairman Wiser of Alpine and Chairman Ellis Peterson of Lehi; solo, Mrs. Ora Chipman; accordian solo, Donna Cleghom; comic song, Mrs. Laura Timpson; dance numbers, Mary Ann Wanlass, Mamie and Elizabeth McAllister, Lucille Lu-cille Walker, Louise Christensen, Gwen Nelson, Peaxl Meecham, Beth Hartshorn and Norma Bowen; stunt, Blanch TattersaU and Myrl Stewart; accordian solo, John Evans; and a reading by Mrs. Jarvis Aydelotte Flowers were presented to the following: fol-lowing: J. W. Widdoes, 92, on Feb- ruary 4th, the oldest man, ana mis. Charlotte Greenwood, 85, the oldest woman. Also to Jacob Christensen, 85 Samuel Greenwood, Hantnce Larsen, Mrs. Emma Smith, John Anderson An-derson Mrs. Melissa Boley, Joseph Miller, Mrs. Elizabeth Hawkins Mrs. Charles Bird, Mrs. Adolph kelson j p Aydelotte, Mrs. Okey, Stephen D Chipman, Mrs. Alice Armstrong, Mrs James Preston, Mrs. Mary Robinson, Rob-inson, John Evans, Mrs. Annie Newton, New-ton, Peter Adamson, Alva Green, - Mrs Elvira Steele and Mrs. John Chairman Roy Greenwood and the members of the committees wish to extend their appreciation to all who assisted in any way in putting over the day's events. For several years the lumber for the tables has been loaned by the Chipman Mercantile Co at a loss to the company. Mr. Greenwood announces that they have been able to buy the teble lumber this year and wiU have them on hand for use at all times. Mrs. Earl and her corps of cooks appreciate ap-preciate greatly those not regularly on the committee who gave assistance assist-ance in preparing and servmg the dinner. o |
