Girl's Sophmore Volleyball Vol-leyball team had a rough row against Uintah on Tuesday of last week, but came back to beat a good Spanish Fork Team on Thursday. In the first game, The Vikes scored 9 to 15 against the Dinos, with even scoring from the team. In the second game, however, Lori Veenker served 8 points, with the team making a valiant effort to win, 10-15. On Thursday, P.G. was determined deter-mined to beat Spanish Fork. They were neck and neck the first game, but the girls won, 16-14, with Natalie Na-talie Crosby serving 8 points. The second game was tough, with The Vikes scoringonly 9 points to Spanish Span-ish Fork's 15. In the third game, Pleasant Grove m ade some great plays, staying stay-ing serve for serve again with Spanish. Span-ish. The final score was 16-14, with P.G. winning me match. The J.V. team came out to win at Uintah, and played some close games with the Dinos. In the first game, Spring Smith served 6 points, but the Dinos won, with P.G. scoring 12-15. In the second game, however, Andrea Lamoreaux Lam-oreaux served 8 points, and the team worked together to win, 15-13. 15-13. The third game of the match had the same score as the second, 15-13, with Valynn Storey serving 9 points, and P.G. winning the match. When Spanish came to town on Thursday, they came to win. P.G.'s J.V. played well, but Spanish played better. In the first game, P.G. couldn't quite finish, even with Spring Smith serving 6 points, and they lost, 14-16. Then,, in the second game, Spanish pulled ahead, winning 10-15. The Varsity pulled into Uintah, ready to beat the Dinos quickly in two games, which is what they did, 15-10 and 15-10. In the first game, the scoring was very even, with Lori Curtis serving 5 points. In the second game, however, Jenny Wells became a serving ace, racking rack-ing up 10 points! Dispite the scores against Spanish Span-ish Fork her on Thursday, Coach Marie Bone felt as though that her team had worked and played hard. She said that what got the Vikes were their missed serves. "The girls played tough defense," de-fense," said Bone. She said that Spanish was so strong that it was tough to get on offense. The first game, Spanish won, 15-4. Despite their hard work, Spanish again beatP.G., 15-10. |
