The inspired principle of free agency will be brought to life as the history of freedom is traced from its inception to the present day. The Savior's teachings, the signing of the Magna Carta by King John, the declaring of independence by the Founding Fathers, and the inspired voyage of Columbus, are some of the stirring scenes to be presented. This year's program will make special mention of the Bicentennial anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution. The characters will be elaborately dressed in authentic costumes and their portrayals have been carefully researched by Geneve Cornell, author of this masterful presentation. Mrs. Cornell is the director of the school and also teaches fifth grade. Because of her great love of American history and her devotion to her students through the years, she has recently been selected as Outstanding American History Teacher of the Year for the state of Utah. This recognition is being presented by the Daughters of the American Revolution. The presentation, "The Spirit of America Speaks," was awarded an honor certificate from the Freedom Foundation at Valley Forge. The choral music and recitations are directed by Kay Asay. Carol Beus is the accompanist. |
