Mothers march against birth defects Pleasant Grove volunteer mothers are putting on their coats and mittens and taking to the streets for the March of Dimes Birth Defects Foundation's Mother's March fundraiser in an effort to wipe out birth defects for future generations. "The 1989 Mother's March is scheduled from Jan. 16-23, 1989 and is expected to be bigger than ever," said Lanona Gurr, leader. "So don't be surprised if you see somebody's mother standing on your doorstep, collecting money for the fight against birth defects." According to Gurr, all Mother's March volunteers are invited to attend a seminar in their area on Thursday, Jan. 5, from 4 to 5 p.m. in the Pleasant Grove Parks and Recreation Building, 41 E. 200 South. Money raised from such fundraisers fun-draisers help fund research and programs benefitting local people. Nearly $200,000 in grants has been awarded to Utah hospitals for next year. |
