Show Artists perform with Utah Valley Symphony Seven American Fork area musicians, musi-cians, Scott Dorton, bassoon, Judy Smith, clarinet, Chris Tootton, oboe, Kay Asay, flute, Mary Alice Briggs, cello, Karen Blalock, viola and Ann Hill, violin will play with Utah Valley Symphony in "An Evening of Pops" Wednesday night, April 15 at 8 p.m. in the Provo Tabernacle. Swing and jazz music will fill the hall for part of the evening as saxophonist Richard D. Losee treats the audience with his talent soloing with the alto symphony in "Star Dust," "In the Mood," "Harlem Nocturne" and "Monterey blues." He will switch to soprano saxophone for a Beatles Medley of "Eleanor Rigby", "Yesterday," "Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band," and "When I'm Sixty-four." Sixty-four." Losee and harpist Janet Bensing will play two numbers with the orchestra, "Clair de Lune" by Claude Debussy and "Chanson dans la Nuit" by Carlos Salzedo. Wednesday Wed-nesday night will bo the premiere showing and playing of the symphony's sym-phony's new Salvi $11,000 harp presented by the Utah Valley Symphony Guild. Offenbach's, "Overture to Orpheus Or-pheus in the Underworld," Tschaikovsky's "Marche Slave," Bizet's "Intermezzo's' from his L'Artesienne Suite No. 2 and Borodin's "Polovetsian Dance No. 17" from Prince Igor will complete the program. |
