Show Blue Crystals perform in Sandy The Blue Crystals Dance and Baton Corps of Pleasant Grove represented Utah County at a recent Utah State Baton Jamboree held in Sandy. The corps performance per-formance was a hit and left quite an impression on Utah audiences with their presentation of "American Destiny." With the help of fine narration by Aaron Card and using streamers, pompoms, fans and flags from 38 different countries, as well as batons, the corps danced and twirled their way through the history of the United States. . With the popularity and success of "American Destiny," the corps is working hard on their 1987 show entitled "Let's Go to the Movies," which they hope will be just as successful as last year's show. The highlights of this show will be a fast-paced fast-paced jazzrockdance baton number to Elvis Presley's "Jailhouse Rock," and with the use of brooms, buckets, dishes, etc., they will perform a rollicking number from the movie "Annie." For the more serious, the corps will portray the wedding scene from "Fiddler on the Roof." Also, for this summer's parades, the Blue Crystals will have Utah County's first fire baton corps. The Blue Crystals perform free of charge for many organizations and the members are from all over the northern end of Utah County. The corps director is Florence Adams, a registered teacher with the B.B.U. and U.S.T.A., who specializes in dance and show twirling. She also teaches baton for Pleasant Grove Recreation Department and American Fork Community Schools. In addition to her teaching duties, Mrs. Adams serves as secretary and Utah County representative for the B.B.U., which is a non-profit organization committed to promote proper twirling techniques for Utah twirlers. One of the goals of the B.B.U. is to help Utah twirling teachers learn the latest in twirling techniques and bring Utah twirlers to national competitive skill levels. For more information regarding the B.B.U., feel free to contact Florence Adams at 785-1013. |
