Front, Christina Bullaugh, Jennie Beagley, Carrie Worthington and Monica Ridge. Absent were Steffanie Smith and Camille Walker. ZCMI to display tablesetting winners Pleasant Grove High School held their annual ZCMI tablesetting contest on Feb. 5. There were over 35 entries. Students were judged on creativity, originality, color coordination and correct usage of utensils. The winners are Nancy Forester, Christina Bullough, Steffanie Smith, Carrie Wor thington, Jeff Moore, Camilee Walker, and Jennie Beagley. These students will go to the region tablesetting contest at ZCMI in the University Mall, which wil begin this Saturday, March 14. Jeff Moore, Lonnie Washburn, and Anita Larsen received honorable mention from the ZCMI judges. Monica Ridge won popular vote. The public is invited to go to ZCMI anytime between March 14 and 21 and vote for the tablesetting they like best. Popular vote is awarded as well as the judged winners. FFA holds public speaking contests By LAURA MCUNE The Pleasant Grove FFA Chapter held their annual Extemporaneous and Prepared Public Speaking contests on Feb. 25, 1987. The participants in the Ex-temporaneous Centest were Brett Evans, Nolan Brooksby, Rebecca Hopkins, and Laura McUne. The participants for the Prepared Public Speaking Contest were Diana Jacob, Jodie VanZant, Dusten Nielson, Stephanie Evans, and Trent Bristol. The winners in the Ex-temporaneous Contest were in first place - Brett Evans, second place, Nolan Brooksby. The winners in the Prepared Public Speaking Contest were in first place, Diana Jacob; second place, Trent Bristol. On March 3 the chapter sent the four winners to Wasatch High School for the area contest. They returned with two winners. Brett Evans took first in the Ex-temporaneous contest and Ryan Wilcox took first place in the Creed Speaking Contest. The chapter's parlimentary team took second place at the area contest. The members of the team were: Brett Evans as chairman, Lori Wood as secretary, Jed Anderson, Nolan Brooksby, Brian Gillman, with Stephanie Evans as alternate. Brett Evans had two proficiency awards given to him. One in Agriculture Sales and Service and the other one in Agriculture Processing. He was also nominated for Star State Agriculture-Businessma- Jed Anderson returned with two proficiency awards, one Soil and Water Con-servation and the other in Dairy Production. " ' .. j ' ' ', "i ' ' Grovecrest Spelling Bee winners are: Paul Goodman, 3rd place; Kammi Lyman, 2nd place; and Robert Lin, 1st place. The winners received a book from the school. Grovecrest noted three brother and sister teams among the 17 finalists in the school spelling bee held recently. The Dastrup, Lyman and Fullmer teams were all finalists among the 121 participating students. Robert Lin, a fifth grade student won as the best speller in the competition. Kammi Lyman, a fifth grade student took second place, and Paul Goodman a sixth grade student placed third. Participation in the contest was optional and the students interested received a list to study for the competition. School winners will compete in a district contest at the Westmore school, 1150 South Main, Orem on March 19 at 7 p.m. Robert won by correctly spelling "Rampart." Kammi was stumped on obsessive," Robert spelled the word correctly and went on to spell "rampart." Others named in the top ten spellers are: Zachery Walker, Travis Starley, Merity Olsen, Gary Fullmer, Kalanni Lyman, Amy Brown and Alan Fullmer.
