Show PGHS cross country teams qualify for state tournament For the first time in many years both the Pleasant Grove boys and girls cross country teams qualified for state. PG boys took third in the Region meet held Wednesday in Spanish Fork and the girls squad took fourth. Randy Hallam led the boys team with an individual third place finish fin-ish with a time of 16:04 on the flat three mile course. Eric Cook, just a junior, was seventh with a time of 16:16. Darren Dar-ren Pierce, David Erickson, Tod Johnson, Chris Larsen and Bill Larsen were other finishers for PG. Leana Kerr led the girls with a 20:25 time, good for ninth, with Jalaine Humphrey, Deanna Gray, Shelley Fillmore, Angela Humble and Brenda Eldridge finishing. The boys team title was won by Timpview with 24 points while Pro-vo Pro-vo had 55, PG 74, and Spanish Fork 115. Timpview won the girls trophy with 27 points, Provo had 36, Spanish Span-ish Fork 95 and Pleasant Grove 115. PG's junior varsity boys team was third with Tony Brereton, Robert Greenland, Ron Arnold, Phil Hubert, Emerson Barton, Preston Pre-ston Roberts, Ryan Hayworth, Gary Nez, and Tim Humphrey finishing the race. |
