Children win dental coloring contest Children from Pleasant Grove and Lehi were winners in the north Utah County coloring contest sponsored by the Provo District Dental Society during National Dental Health Month. The first place winner was Ryan Hoover of Lehi Elementary. Winning second place was Kimberly Helm of Grovecrest Elementary in Pleasant Grove, and the third place winner was Betsy Hardman from Lehi Elementary. According to Marilyn Barry of the Dental Society, the purpose of the society is to teach and promote proper dental care. She noted that every February is National Dental Health Month. During that month they promote dental health by visiting all the second grade clases throughout the area. In the visit they teach the children proper food to eat and how to brush and floss their teeth. They stress the importance of a healthy smile and keeping their teeth for a lifetime, Mrs. Barry said. During the month they also sponsor spon-sor the coloring contest for the second graders through the local McDonalds in order to enhance proper dental care. The local winners were through the American Fork McDonalds where Carl Eyring is manager. |
