The national point system dic-ifjte- d that Sandi and Comanche Lucky Duster beat 60 other horses Lst to qualify for the World Show in Okalhoma City. Actually she qualifi-ed in two events; Senior Trail and Barrels. Because of the distance to Oklahoma City, Sandi took just one ; horse, her favorite, Comanche Lucky i puster, and entered the Senior Trail Class competition. A combination obstacle course and spook alley, Senior Trail tests the horse competition and rider in a variety of difficult situations. While negot-iating an obstacle, horses are judged on how well they maneuver through and around hazards. How calm a horse remains is an important factor. Obstacles include bridges, water to cross, gates to open, back-through-jumps and scary screaming animals that try to spook the horses while they work the course. Sandi and Comanche Lucky Duster competed against 37 other teams from around the country in earning the 11th place world finish. About the "Coke," Sandi said, "My horse is a 'Coke-a-holi- c' When he wins or does well, he gets a Coke. When he loses he doesn't get anything." "Comanche Lucky Duster drinks from a bottle or if you give him a can, he can tip it up and drink," Sandi said. After high school graduation, Sandi hopes to go to Nebraska to work and study with a horse trainer who has trained world champion horses. She wants to be a trainer and Sandi claims good trainers can make a very good living. "Studying horse training in Nebraska might be my college experience," Sandi said. ; ....
