Show UTC Students Take Medals at Skill Olympics Student contestants from Utah Technical College at Provo garnered gold and silver medals at the United States Skill Olympics just completed in Atlanta, Ga. Provo Tech qualified students from five vocational majors in the Utah ! State VICA skills contests held earlier ' this spring. Of the five entered in the N nationals, three won gold (first place) . medals and one was awarded a silver (second place) medal. Winning first place gold medals : were: Kent Craven, Orem, in the architectural drafting contest. Kent is :, - a first year student in drafting and Hi 1. design. Glen Duffin, Hemet, Calif., won in " the machine shop contest. Glen is a spring graduate of the machine shop -; program and is employed in the Provo area. Jeff Finley, Salt Lake City, won in the auto body contest, is a spring graduate and is employed in the Salt Lake area. Trudy Green, Driggs, Idaho, won a silver (second place) medal in dental assisting. She plans to go to Alaska this summer and then will be employed em-ployed in her hometown. The club business procedures and parliamentary team from Utah Tech took fifth place in the nation. Utah Tech at Provo competed for these awards with over 2000 students representing 49 states and three territories. Students from BYU, SUSC, Snow College and Utah Tech at Salt Lake also took part in the skills contest. |
