Show Pleasant Grove Advisory Council Met on March 4, Invites Everyone to Come, Take Part in Activity It was suggested that the campaign be advertised adver-tised on the radio. This service is done free of charge by contacting the various radio stations sta-tions in this area. The next monthly meeting will be held Tuesday, April 1 at 6:30 p.m. in the Jr. High School. Anyone who wants to take an active part in the com munity action is invited to attend. Nominations for next year's advisory council officers will be conducted con-ducted in April and voted on in May. The Pleasant Grove Advisory Council met on Mar. 4, and approved approv-ed the minutes of their Feb. 5 meeting. Items to be listed in the calendar should be turned in to Barbara Brewer. Max Shifrer reviewed the report that will be sent to the Alpine School District office on "Improving the Quality of Education in the Pleasant Grove Schools." Ben Fullmer explained explain-ed that a policy on vending ven-ding machines in the high schools will be implemented im-plemented as of July 1, 1980. This policy will place restrictions on the types of foods offered and the time the machine will be in operation. Mr. Fullmer feels that if the students have access to types of food items that they like, from vending machines, they will be more likely to stay on the campus during the school day. He suggested sug-gested continuing staying stay-ing away from "junk food" items. Mr. Fullmer will review the regulations the state has developed concerning this matter at the next council meeting. Judy Turnbow reported re-ported on the Clean Speech campaign. She already has orders for buttons from concerned citizens. Flyers will be sent out from the schools to inform the parents of this promotion. promo-tion. Orders for buttons will be taken through the seminary in the junior and senior high schools. Buttons are also available for council coun-cil members who would Like them. Orders will be taken during March. |
