Show SCORE AND CHARGE Mark Atwood scores two of his 27 point effort ef-fort in American Fork game. Atwood put on a great show of hustle and scoring. Totaled 50 points in Provo and American Fork games. Thriller in Am. Fork Finds Vikinqs on Short End Atwood the second half and he scored only six points and nothing else would fall for the vikes, but Craig Giles kept the Vikes going with his short shots. A.F. caught up and the score was tied at the end of the thrid quarter. The fourth quarter both teams went neck and neck. The Vikes led by one point with 8 seconds left and A.F. had the ball out of bounds. After looking inside Beck took the shot that sunk P.G. A last try by the Vikes failed and their night of almost glory ended up to be a night of sorow as the game ended 55-53. JUDGE GAME The Vikings got their revenge Saturday night as they chained the Judge Bulldogs 72-60. Again Atwood led the charge as he led the list of five P.G. players in double figures. The Bulldogs had short leads the first quarter but the Vikes kept coming back and took a 34-31 lead into the locker room at half. After Hansen scored six straight points the , Vikes opened up the score and led the rest of the game as the tough viking defense didn't let the Bulldogs score during a four minute stretch in the third quarter. As the Bulldogs tried to catch up the Vikes just kept scoring bucket after bucket and sent the Judge team back to Salt Lake with their heads down. Atwood had 15 for the Vikes and Kevin Peay, coming back from an ankle injury, scored 14, with Hansen and Giles scoring 12 along with Raliffs 11. The Vikings take on the TimpView Thun-derbirds Thun-derbirds Friday night in the Viking Gym at 7:30 with j.v. at 5:30 and Soph at 3:30. by Guy Madsen The Pleasant Grove Basketball team took their first two defeats of the season last week to Provo and A.F. but came back to defeat Judge Saturday night. No shots would fall for the Vikes as Provo completely dominated the second half after falling behind in the early stages of the game. The Vikings started strong but then Provo went into a stall with four minutes to go in the second quarter and Pleasant Grove scored only 8 first half points. Mark Atwood came alive in the second half with his long range 20 footers but could only keep the Vikes close as Provo seemed to score at will and the Bulldogs won 53-35. A.F. GAME After leading the whole, game the Vikes fel to the A.F. Cavemen as Gary D. Beck hit a 30 foot desperation shot with four second left on the clock, to put the Cavemen ahead by one. Mark Atwood led the charge for the Vikes as he scored 21 first half points as he shot the house down with numerous 20 footers from the side. Garth Hansen's last second shot gave the Vikes a four point lead a half-time. half-time. A.F. doubled up on |
