Show Mountain Bell Service Improvement Planned The introduction of "Zero Plus Dialing" is the major service improvemet scheduled for Pleasant Grove during the 1978 calendar year by Mount- tain Bell, according to D.G. "Deb" Brown, district manager - customer services. The improved service, which will go into effect this fall, will allow customers to place credit card, collect and similar type calls themselves without having to first dial the operator. It is both faster, and more convenient. In addition, an Automatic Intercept System is scheduled to be introduced to Pleasant Grove in 1978. AIS is the latest in intercept technology and will be added to every exchange ex-change in the state during the new year. Brown reported that $137,000 in telephone cable and conduit is budgeted for the Pleasant Grove exchange this year. Most will be used to provide new trunk cable to the Cedar Hills and Mahogony Hills subdivisions. Mountain Bells total 1978 construction and capital improvements im-provements budget for Utah will reach a record $92.6 million. This is approximately $15 million more than 1977 and five times as much as was spent by the Company in 1968, just a decade ago. While spending has incr-teased incr-teased five-fold, customer rates have only increased an average of 30 percent, according accor-ding to Brown. "While many of the projects will directly improve service in many areas of the state, most of them are unseen by customers but are necessary if telephone is to be maintained at a level customers have come to expect," Brown pointed poin-ted out. |
