It is hoped that recognition of the Commended students in each year's Merit Program will serve as an en-couragement to able youth and will assist them in ob-taining whatever information and assistance they may need to pursue their educational plans. Counselor, Keith Larsen, announced todav that one senior student at Pleasant Grove High has achieved Commended student status in the twenty third annual National Merit Scholarship Program. This honor is the result of each students out-standing performance on the Preliminary Scholastic Ap-titude Test-Nation- Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test which was administered nationwide to high school juniors in October 1976. Let-ters of Commendation were presented to Greg Yashko, son of Ruth and Paul Yashko. A total of approximately 35,000 Commended students throughout the United States are being honored by the national Medrit Scholarship Corporation which ad-ministers the yearly scholar-shi-competition. Students in this group represent less than two percent of the total of graduating U.S. secondary school seniors. Locations of proposed Collector Roads. Reference is made to the photograph published in the Review on Thursday, September 8, 1977 where these streets were designated. 2. Establishment of a R-- (Residental Multiple zone) which would be located in the central part of the city . All other areas would be designated S D (single dwelling) and multiple dwellings would not be a per-mitted use in these other zones except owner occupied duplexes. 3. Provision to allow for owner occupied duplexes in the S D Zones as a special use per-mit. This would require all requests for duplexes to be reviewedatapublichearing. 4. An amendment to the con-ditional use permit section of the city code to require that in-dividuals desiring to house two or more foster children in their home be required to obtain a special use permit. This also necessitates an addition in the definition section of the code to define the term "foster child". Citizens are invited to attend this meeting and express their opinions on those proposed changes. Mark John son City Recorder Published September 29, Oc-tober 6, 13, In the Pleasant Gr ove Review. Lindon City Council Will Conduct Public Hearing A public notice in the Review last week stated that the Lindon City Council will conduct a public hearing at the Lindon School to consider public comment with respect to the rezoning of ap-proximately 95 acres of real property located in East Lin-don above the Murdock Canal to permit smaller lot sizes. The meeting time was set for Tuesday, Oct. 11, but has since been changed to Tuesday, Oct. 18 at 6 p.m. The Council will consider changing current minimum lot sizes from 20,000 square feet to between 12,000 and 13,000 square feet. All citizens of Linddn who are interested or who might have input to the above change in the zoning laws are cordially invited to attend. Public Notice (Housing Assistance) Pleasant Grove City has received $14,262.00 from the State of Utah which is now available for citizens of Pleasant Grove to assist in housing rehabilitation.
