Jack Thrilled by Disneyland j by Jack Hill Thanksgiving wasn't the Epical "over the river and -- through the woods to Gran- - dmothers house" for our . '. family this year. Instead, ; along with the Wilsons, Crosbys, Proctors, Hriensons ard Christensens went over the desert and through Las Vegas to California. We spent Thanksgiving day at the San Clemente kach. Both the surf and temperature were high. Bill Patterson proved to be, without challenge, the cham-pion water lover. The rest of Us got a taste of sea water Mle we tried "body sur-f'ng- (I got my body sand Wasted in the tumbling aves.) Down the coast from the State Park, Richard Nixons California "White House" i sits on a beautiful point overlooking the Pacific. We didn't see Nixon, Ribbozzo or any secret service agents but in my minds eye I could see flying U.S. tax dollars that financed the resigned President in regal splendor. That evening, after a delicious turkey dinner at the Disneyland Hotel, as guests of Clarence and Carol Wilson, we changed clothes for three hours at Knotsberry Farm. Riding the "Corkscrew" on a stomach full of turkey, dressing and cranberry sauce has to be a thrill. It was so much fum that we went up the 200 foot parachute drop to retaste the pumpkin pie and whipped cream! DISNEY LAND Being 39 and having never been to Disneyland probably makes me a small minority. For 15 hours on Fridr.y, we took in the exhibits, rides, popcorn, shops and sights of a beautiful amusement park. From the Hotel you can ride the monorail into the park. ALONG WITH THE THRILL RIDES, Disneyland is famous for its in such at-tractions as Bear Country Jamboree, America Sings, It's A Small World and Pirates of the Carribean. Walt Disney's dream of this medium of entertainment reaches a zenith in a visit with Mr. Lincoln. The former presidents stirring speech on liberty and free enterprize brought a tingle to my spine and will stir even the most staunch socialist to a remem-brance of what made and makes America the best place in the world to live.
