MODIFIED CLASS Cliff Campbell, Rookie of year and best looking car in the Modified Class, got a trophy for running well in the races at Roundabout. John Frampton, local Law Enforcement officer, is to be sincerely commended for his part in the Roundabout Raceway during the past year. John, if you didn't get a trophy, you sure deserve one. Roundabout has enjoyed a very successful season this year. Roundabout . . . The annual awards and honors banquet provided an evening of enjoyment and good food for the racing fraternity. John and June Frampton took charge of the trophy and special awards presentations. Several fun awards were given including an oldest driver award to Don West. A Plaque stating "You're not getting older, you're getting better," was quite ap-propriate. Ray Chatwin was given a piece of the guard rail since he seemed so attracted to it all season. Pete Cam-pbell was given a security blanket to protect him from the spectators and glasses to observe whos wife is in the stands. A garter was presen-ted to Carolyn Gurney so that she will have something feminine to wear during the races. Craig Chynoweth recievd a top because he seems to go round and round, while Kent Roundy got tranquilizers to keep him from a nervoius breakdown. Mary West a new supply of pencils, Roxine, a ballon to help her up the stairs of the tower, Danny Houston a mitt for washing his race car, Dave Martinez a dictionary, Kim Frampton a wash mitt and can of Armor All for the use of his truck which got so dirty every Saturday. Ivan Luke needed sunglasses so that he can paint his car for next season, he must have had such a glare last year, and then a gift of throat lozenges to Grant Leonard who yells so hard during the pedal bike races. Mike Richins was awarded a squirrel because he was all over the track, a loving cup to Todd Chynoweth who didn't get a trophy all season. Rhonda Chybnoweth got a new book to jot down names for next years trophy queens and then John Frampton recieved a nose plug to guard against the odor of onions being cut for the hamburgers at the track. Special recognition was given to those who helped during the long hot dsummer of 76. In the pits, Kent Roun-dy, Theron Nay, and Kathy Frampton. In center track it was Blaine Grey, Kim Fram-pton, Kirk Frampton, Mike Campbell and Arvid Kelan-der- . Those on the tower were Steve Frampton, Pete Cam-pbell and pictures by Bruce Adams. City Council recognition to Mayor Haynie and Councilman Frank Mills. The snack stand help were Rae Kelander and Lynda Turner and Ilene Nay. Lynda Millar gate, Mary West news, Rhonda Chnoweth queens, and Lila Park and Maria Frampton on the stand. Steve Turner, Norman Rhodes and Grant Leonard recieved jackets for not missing any races and June Frampton was given a jacket for her efforts as well as a shawl for all the time she spent keeping track of the cars and their times. Belt buckles especialy designed for Roundabout were given to all drivers who had competed in at least 5 races. A gift cer-tificate was given by the racers to the Framptons for some new furniture. Their ef-forts were greatly ap-preciated. The final awards were those hard earned high point and best looking car trophies. Modified class high point winner was Jack Elwell with Mike Roundy second and Craig Chynoweth third. The best Looking car and Rookie of the year award in this class went to Cliff Campbell. In the Stock class the number one man was Steve Turner with Norman Rhodes second and Robert Newman third. Robert also won the Rookie of the Year award and Steve Hansen captured the Best Looking car trophy. The Super Stock division was a hard fought battle all season and Howard Sorensen took the high point in the class along with the Rookie of the year award. Danny Houston took second and Melvin Radmall third. John Sorensen was com-mended for his willingness to lend a tow truck. There are not enough words to express the gratitude towards the various people who helped to make the races a success. The Roundabout Raceway is an example of brotherly love. Each competitor exerted everyeffort to win in his par-ticular class, but each man also helped his fellow racers when they were needed. True sportsmanship was apparent all season in each of the classes. Many of the competitors are already building new cars or repairing the old ones for next season. The evening was spent bench racing and en-joying each others companj after several weeks of not seeing each other. SUPER STOCK Melvin Radmall took third place in Super Stock in the Roundabout Raceway races during the past year. Points were earned and added during the year. j, NOTICE OF INTENTION PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on the 24th day of August 1976, the Mayor and City Council of Lindon City, Utah County, Utah adopted a resolution declaring its intention to create a Special Improvement District to be known as "Lindon City, Utah County, Utah Special Improvement District No. 76-1- It is the intention of the City Council to make improvements within Special Improvement District No. 76-- 1 and to levy special taxes as provided in Chapter 16, Title 10, Utah Code An-notated, 1953, as amended, on the real estate lying within said District for the benefit of which such taxes are to be expended in the making of such improvements. complete such work in a workmanlike manner. Without limiting the above general description of im-provements it is intended to provide for the removal of any utilities or other obstruc-tions which may hamper completion of the work above described. Estimated Cost The total estimated cost of all improvements is $60,165.82 This amount shall be paid by a special tax to be levied against the property abutting upon the street to be improved or which may be affected by or specifically benefited by such im-provements. The estimated cost per lineal foot of proper-ty is $21.23. Assessments and levy of Taxes It is the intention of the City Council of Lindon City, Utah, to levy assessments as provided by the laws of Utah on all parcels and lots of real property abutting U114, also known as Geneva Road from Main Street, to the south boundary of McNally Moun-tain States Steel Company. The purpose of the assessment and levy is to pay the costs of the subject im-provements. The method of assessment shall be appor-tioned according to lineal front footage of abutting lots and parcels of property. The assessments may be paid by property owners in ten (10) annual installments with interest on the unpaid balance at a rate or rates not to exceed ten percent (10) per annum as fixed by the City Council, or the whole or any part of the assessment may be paid without any in-terest within fifteen (15) days after the ordinance levying the assessment becomes ef-fective. The assessments shall be levied according to the benefits to be derived by each property within the district. Other payment provisions and enforcement remedies shall be in accor-dance with Chapter 16 of Title 10 of Utah Code An-notated, 1953. A map of the proposed district, copies of plans, profiles and specifications of the proposed improvements and other related information are on file in the office of the City Recorder who will make, such information available to all interested persons. Time For Filling Protests Any person who is the owner of property to be assessed in the Special Im-provement District described in the Notice of Intention shall have the right to file in writing a protest against the creation of Special Im-provement District No. 76-- 1 or to make any other objec-tions relating thereto. Protests shall describe or other wise identify the property owned by the person or persons making the protest. Protests shall be filed with the City Recorder of Lindon City, Utah on or before 1:00 p.m. on the 7th day of December, 1976. Thereafter at 7:00 p.m. on the 7th day of December, 1976 the City Council shall meet in public meeting at the City Hall to consider all protests so filed and hear all objec-tions relating to the proposed Special Improvement District No. 76-- BY ORDER OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF LINDON CITY, UTAH. Published in the Pleasant Grove Review, November. 4, 11, 18 and December 2. 4 DESCRIPTION OF DISTRICT It is intended that the pro-posed Special Improvement District No. 76-- 1 shall in-clude the east edge of U114 also known as Geneva Road, extending from a point beginning with the south east corner of the intersection of Main Street and U114, also known as Geneva Road, in Lindon City, and thence along the east edge of Geneva Road to the south boundary of McNally Mountain States Steel property in Lindon City, Utah, and all parcels of land and lots abutting on the east portion of U114 and Geneva Road between those two points. Intended Improvements The improvements to be constructed within Special Improvement District no. 76-- 1 include the construction and installation of a sewer line and any excavation, back fill and grating necessary to |
