Mr. Mills states that anyone requiring re-quiring information may contact him any afternoon after the date for distribution of the forms. The American Legion will be at the City Hall on August 31 and September 1st to give out forms and help in filing applications, Comander Hinton stated. They will be there from 4:00 to 8:00. Relatively little informaion is required from applicants for the forthcoming divident. The application is in the form of a two-fold postal card. On the upper portion, the applicant is asked ask-ed to supply the following. 1. First Name, middle initial and last name. 2. Permanent mailing address. 3. County. 4. Service serial number or numbers. num-bers. 5. Branch of service (Army, Navy, Marine Corps, etc.). 6. Exact date of birth. 7. Insurance numbers, including prefix N, V, or H. 8. V. A. Claim number (if any) I 9. Applicant's handwritten signature. sig-nature. On the lower portion of the card, the applicant will type or print his name and complete mailing mail-ing address. When the application is receiveed at the VA office, the lower portion' of the card will be detached and mailed to tlje applicant applic-ant as a receipt. It will be stamped with the applicant's dividend application ap-plication number. The Veterans Administration asks applicants not to write about their applications. It will only delay de-lay the payment. If the applicant doesn't know his insurance numbers, item 7 may be left blank. But do not write to the VA to ask about unknown numbers. If the applicant moves after his application is sent in, he should not write the VA. This will delay payment. Rather, he should leave his new address with the Postmaster Post-master so that his check can be forwarded. The first checks will be mailed sometime in January, 1950, and all eligible veterans will have received re-ceived their checks bv July 1. The total amount of refund will be 2.8 billion dollars. An estimate of how much you will get, according to the VFW Newspaper, can be estimated by adding up the amount of premiums you paid from the date of beginning begin-ning of the policy to its 1948 anniversary an-niversary datee, and then divide the total by three, the result will be the approximate amount of the dividend to you. |
