Show Funeral Rites Held Wednesday for Merle Coombs Funeral services for Prudence Prud-ence Merle HaUiday Coombs, 92, were held Wednesday, Nov. 10, 1971 at 12 noon in the Olpin Family Mortuary Chapel, PI. Grove, under the direction of Bishop Doyle Young of the Pleasant Grove Fifth Ward. Mrs. Coombs died Saturday, Nov. 6, of causes incident to age. Speakers at the services were Karl Banks and Dr. G. Y. Anderson, and Bishop Young also gave remarks. A vocal solo "I Walked Today To-day Where Jesus Walked," was sung by William E. Petersen, and Jeanne Walker and JoAnne Brady sang "In the Garden." Family prayer was given by Lloyd Adamson and invocation and benediction by Bishop Rue-Ion Rue-Ion Robbins and Eldo Halliday, respectively. The grave, in the Salt Lake City Cemetery, was dedicated by Vere Halliday. Pallbearers were Lloyd Adamson, Ad-amson, LaVere Wadley, Wendell Wen-dell Keetch and Nyal Wadley. Mrs. Coombs was born Feb. 8, 1879, to Joseph W. and Louisa Lou-isa Hawley Halliday. She married mar-ried John Hardy Coombs on Sept. 7, 1898 in the Salt Lake Temple. He died Nov. 4, 1924. She was a member of the LDS Church, and had lived in Pleasant Grove all of her life. Survivors include one son, J. Wendell Coombs, Los Angeles, Calif, 1 grandchild, 5 greatgrandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a sister, Vida Adamson, American Fork. |
