Show Decline in Litter Noted Along Nation Highways A report from Keep America Ameri-ca Beautiful, Inc. indicates a sharp decline in littering along the nation's highways. The National Litter Index, compiled annually by this anti-litter anti-litter organization, stands at 94.27, four points below 19's 98.26. This is the second consecutive con-secutive year the Index registered reg-istered a decline. The Index is based on the cost of litter removal along state roads relative to the number num-ber of miles traveeled on these roads. The decline of littering on our highways is the result of a growing public awareness and a change of attitudes. The Division Di-vision of Fish and Game hopes that these same factors will carry over to sportsmen and other recreational users on public and private lands. Littering Lit-tering can be eliminated if each person does his part. |
