Show Waterfowl Can't Be Shot from Moving Boat Shooting waterfowl from a power boat "on the run" remains re-mains illegal in Utah even though the law on detaching the motor from the boat has been changed. John Nagel, Wildlife Resources Resour-ces Law Enforcement Chief, said a hunter may shoot at waterfowl wat-erfowl from a power boat provided pro-vided the motor has been shut off and the progress from the motor has ceased. The motor may remain attached to the boat. Waterfowl hunting is permitted permit-ted from a boat while drifting beached, moored, resting at anchor, an-chor, or while being propelled by paddle, oars, or pole. A 1944 law made it illegal to shoot waterfowl from a speeding speed-ing power boat. It usually required re-quired detachment of the motor mot-or before shooting. This was often of-ten difficult and dangerous in rough waters. Motor detachment detach-ment became unnecessary after af-ter the law was changed a few years ago. |
