Show J--"""" 1 , . - - ANNOUNCER Don Harrington, outstanding rodeo announcer will be giving play by play description at rodeo grounds Don Harrington to Announce Strawberry Days Rodeo Events Rodeo fans at the Pleasant Grove rodeo will be treated to a play-by-play commentary from one of professional rodeos ro-deos top announcers. Hired to handle the microphone for the annual Strawberry Days celebration cele-bration is Don Harrington, selected sel-ected by the sport of rodeo as it's National Finals Rodeo Announcer An-nouncer last December. Harring earned this sport by having a career that goes back 20 years in the cowboy sport. Born and raised at Butte, Montana, Harrington began ro-deoing ro-deoing while working on ranches ran-ches in western Montana. He spent three years in the navy, a member of the rodeo team at the University of Montana, graduating in business administration, admin-istration, and then professional rodeo. By accident the regular announcer didn't arrive at a rodeo at which Harrington was contesting he pinch-hitted, and has been at the mike ever ev-er since. He covers approximately approxi-mately 30 rodeos a year. When not rodeoing he is co-owner co-owner of Harrington's Pepsi Cola Bottling Co., on the board of directors of the Rodeo Cowboys Cow-boys Association, the boards of the Butte Chamber of Commerce, Com-merce, National Soft Drink Association, the Montana Soft Drink Association, a private pilot pi-lot and also raises quarter horses hor-ses on a ranch south of Butte in the Big Sky country. |
