Lecjion Ladies Are Given Insight On Child Welfare Members o American Le-gion Unit 70 met last Thurs-day at the home of Arvilla Harvey. Unit President Don-na Walker was in charge and conducted a business session. Mrs. Walker introduced Madge Peterson, Child Wel-fare chairman, who present-ed the guest speaker, Edna Till, caseworker for the Pro-y- o District Schools. Mrs. Hill gave an interest-ing discussion on "strength-ening the home" and present-ed the following guidelines for bringing up children. Children learn what they live: If a child lives with criti-cism he learn to condemn. If a child lives with hostil-ity, he learn to fight. If a child lives with ridicule he learns to be shy. If a child lives with shame, he learns to feel guilty. If a child lives with toler-ance, he learns to be patient. If a child lives with encour agement, he learns confidence If a child lives with praise, he learns to appreciate. If a child lives with fair-ness, he learns justice. If a child lives with secur-ity, he learns to have faith. If a child lives with approv-al, he learns to like himself. If a child lives with accep-tance and friendship, he learns to find love in the world. Committee members Arvil-la Harvey, Lydia Hilton and Yvonne Jones served refresh-ments to the guest and the 24 members who attended. School Gives Appreciation For Museum Visit Recently the fifth grade of the American Heritage school at Pleasant Grove, and their teacher, David Putnam, made a surprise call on Mr. and Mrs. Harold Walker to pre-sent holiday greetings in the form of a packet of letters written by the pupils to ex-press their individual apprec-iation for the many interest-ing things about pioneer life they learned in their tour of the Pioneer Museum and log cabin. Many of the letters empha-sized that seeing the relics and hearing the stories of how ' they were used had helped the pupils to see the contrast be-tween pioneer life and the easy life of today. But in spite of the hardships of early days most of the students conclud-ed they would like to be fine and brave like the pioneers who certainly were not afraid jf work. 1 ft Olb-Pasbion- eb j 1 tSreetinqs f H Hope you and your family share g 8 an ed Christmas decked g 8 with friendship, fellowship, festivity. g 8 Pleasant Grove Floral l Glenn and Jennie Gilbert i ' I is in the air, 8 tir ' rfififi S7 all our fine patrons g 'yi--f yyri " with sincere best wishes p" ', oxsM for a wonderful season.
