FARMINGTON At a meeting of the county commissioners, it was decided to appropriate $750 to the Ogden livestock show, the amoupt to be payable in January, 1930. The resignation of J. D. Burnett, deputy ahertff, was presented bjr Commissioner A. R. Cook upon the request of Mr. Burnett and accepted. ac-cepted. BRIGHAM CITY The Brlgham City sugar factory of the Utah-Idaho Utah-Idaho Sugar company closed down recently, after a campaign ct twenty-six days' operation, in which approximately J4.000 tons of beets were converted Into sugar. The run, while short, was successful and, according to Superlntendgnt A. C. Pearson, no serious accidents occurred during the campaign. 6PRINGVILLE Poultrynien of Sprlngrville are projecting an egg grading plant here, according to announcement by local authorities. The proposition was laid before officials of the Utah Poultry association as-sociation some time ago, and following fol-lowing an Investigation It was found that a larger egg production was necessary here to make a plant pay. LOGAN Apple growers of Cache county have shipped forty-two forty-two carloads of their product to the Los Angeles market this fall, for Which they received an average of $40 per ton, according to Agricultural Agri-cultural Inspector Harry C. Parker. Park-er. This shipment Is an increase of four carloads over the amount of apples sent to Los Angeles by Cache county last year. OGDEN The Tjtah livestock judging team won first place In the swine division of the Future Farmer Farm-er contests held In conjunction with the royal livestock show at Kansas City, according to dispatches. Allen Al-len Taylor of Ogden was fourth high Individual, and Jay Winkle-man Winkle-man of Mt Pleasant was one of the twenty-five boys of the country who waa awarded the degree of "American Farmer." PRICE One car of honey has been shipped from Price this year by producers In Duchesne and Uintah Uin-tah counties to centers in the east. The shipment Included both con a and extracted honey and was considered con-sidered to be of excellent quality. It is expected that shipping of alfalfa seed-will commence soon. In 1928 between 1,500,000 aud Zr 000,000 pounds of this product was marketed through the offices of the Price Commission company. SALT LAKE The toll of human life taken by fires on the national forests in the disastrous fire season of this year Includes fourteen employes em-ployes of the forest service, U. S. department of agriculture. The forest service does not know how many deaths there have been of persons not on the employment rolls, but It is known that a number num-ber of people not on these rolls lost their lives on account of the fires In the forests. LOGAN According to Harry C. Parker, state and federal agricultural agricul-tural inspector, Cache potato growers grow-ers are having one of the bast seasons sea-sons for many years in marketing their crops. Two dollars and fifteen fif-teen ' cents per hundred la the amount netted by the grower on a carload of spuds shipped under consignment to Los Angeles. The potatoes were shipped recently by Lean ond of Lewlston. Mr. Parker stated that the potato market was strong this year, due to a 120,000,-. 120,000,-. 0G0-bushel shortage, which Is SO,-000,000 SO,-000,000 bushels short of the five-year five-year average. OGDEN A fisherman's pamphlet entitled "The Whitefish, Grayling, Trout, and Salmon of tho lutermountaln Region," by S. B. Locke, Forest Examiner of the V. S. Forest Service, Ogden, Utah, has just been published as Bureau of Fisheries Document 1062. It contains con-tains a key for Identifying fish, together with illustrations and a detailed description of the species. This pamphlet can be secured free of charge upon requisition to the District Forester at Ogden, Utah, or to local forest officers.
