Since Pink-ham- Maneuvers of Navy Attracting Attention From All Parts of Nation; Government Watching Outcome I have taken the Aboard U. S. S. Seattle, Off Lower California Coast. The eve of battle draws nigh off the coast of Lower California in the greatest concentration of sea power the Pacific has ever seen. One hundred and nine vessels of the United States navy are cleared for action as the hour of contact approaches in the great strategic problem of defense against a superior vessels enemy force the nine of the battle fleet, including dreadnaughts, moving upon the invasion of the Pacific coast as the black fleet. The fasti st striking arm of the American navy, the scouting fleet, is closing its scouting net upon the enemy. Twelve of the largest type submarines in the navy, forming an important striking force for the defensive blue fleet, are ready for action. Known as the S type, these undersea crafts are 300. feet long and are armed with torpedoes effective at a range. They went through battle practice. In surface formation their speed is 10.5 knots an hour and under the sea seven knots. They maneuvered in divisions, all diving simultaneously and later coming to the surface with the same precision of formation. Able, in action, to see large war craft long before they can be spotted, they dive and as the approach to the enemy is made for an instant, a small periscope is erected above the water. Thus they are able to locate their prey and then submerge for the attack. The "S type submarines have, a cruising radius of several thousand miles. Direction finders enable the underwater craft to detect the approach of the enemy at a maximum of three miles distant while submerged. For while under the intercommunication sea the boats use oscillators for telegraphy and they can communicate while beneath the waves over a radius of ten miles. The blue fleet submarine divisions are whipping into action against the black fleet, which will choice, targets with its slow convoy speed. The boats are in constant battle practice for action against the black fleet, when they will submerge to deliver the surprise attack. One maneuver in the attack will be for the submarines to travel under water beneath their prey, after their surprise assault, and continue the battle from the opposite side, while the enemy Is' engaged with the cruisers and destroyers of the blue fleet. Nature' is lending a hand for the success of the maneuvers; the weather is dear; visibility is perfect, and a smooth sea will provide an excellent battleground. fifty-seve- n five-mil- e Vegetable Compound my side and back dont bother me and I can do my housework and care for my children now, where before I did not feel like doing anything or going around. After my first child was bom about four years ago I saw an advertisement in the paper about the Vegetable Compound. I knew it would help me, but I was afraid to try it because people said it would help ou to have children and I knew I waa aving children fast enough. But 1 thought if it would help me it would be better to have a whole house full of children and have good health.
