Show 20th Annual Timpanogos Hike Set For Friday and Saturday PROVO, July 14 Wood for the huge bonfire has !een gathered, seats and stage of the Theatre of the Pines have been placed In readiness, readi-ness, and the dynamo which is to furnish the light Is being connected with Its motor for the 20th Annual Timpanogos hike ond program which will !e held at Aspen Grove on Mt. Timpanogos, next Friday- aud Saturday, Sat-urday, July 17 and 18. The program will be furnished by the towns of Ctah valley and iTeber City and the T'nlverslty of Utah and .Brigham Young University. These numbers will include vocal solos, vocal ensembles, instrumental selections, selec-tions, readings and speeches. Stilus Wllma Jeppson, director of physical education for women at Brighnm Young University, is preparing pre-paring a closing number for the program In the Theatre of the Pines on Friday evening which will carry over In a ceremonial fashion to the huge bonfire which will be lighted imedlately thereafter. The dance of the fire lighters this year has been constructed around "The 'Legend of Tlmpnnogos", written by Eugene U. Rolerts, founder of the hike. The age of the hike will he counted count-ed by twenty ariel bombs which are being furnished by the American Legion. Provo Chamber of Commerce, Provo Klwanls and Rotary clubs, and Ihe American Legion, Provo Post No. 13, u,re coiierating In arranging ar-ranging the lilke. Brigham Young T'nlverslty and the University of Utah will furnish numbers on the program nnd the B. Y. U. will act ns host. (Continued on last 'uge) 20TH ANNUAL TIMP HIKE (Continued from first page) The new road to Aspen Grove via 1'rovo canyon has simplified the transportation problem. The State road commission and the Utah county coun-ty sheriffs office will patrol the roads making them perfectly safe for the mont inexperienced driver. The 20th Annual Tlmpanogos hike will occur on Saturday, July 18. Buttons will be furnished those who reach the summit of the mountain moun-tain on that day. These buttons will admit the wearer to the Timpano-gos Timpano-gos Snmmlt club, an organlntxion which began last year. There Is no commercial angle to the hike. Nobody profit except the concessions and they are a necessity neces-sity as they furnish "eats" and drinks for the hungry and thirsty. |
