Show Df I HAD A BOY By Frank Carleton Nelson If I had a boy, I would say tc thim, Son, Be fair and be square in the race you muBt run, Be brave if you lose and be meek if you win, Be better and nobler than I've ever been, Be honest and fearless in all thai you do And honor the name I have giver you. If I had a boy, I would want him to know, We reap in this life just about af we sow, And we get what we earn, he it little or great, Regardless of luck and regsrdlest of fate, I would teach hhn and show him fhe best that I could, That it pays to be honest and up right and good. I would make him a pal and , partner of mine, ' And show him the things in thit world that are fine, I would show him the things thai are wicked and bad, For I figure this knowledgt should ftomn from his Dad. - , I would walk with him, talk wiibj him, play with him too, And to all of my promised strirt to be true. We would grow up together an? I'd be a boy And share in his troubles and share in his joy t We would work out problems to gether and then We would lay out our plans whet we both would be men And Oh, what a wonderful joy it would be, No pleasure in life, could bt greater to me. |
