Show more teachers resign from county schools when the iron county board of education met for its meeting on monday morning of this week it was faced with resignations from five teachers who had signed up to teach in the county schools during the coming year two of these resignations were from the parowan carowan schools one from owen davis who has become superintendent of the schools in wayne county and whose leaving was report last week the other from here was from miss norma bentley who is leaving the system to be married I 1 the other three were from tit the cedar high junior high and elementary grades and brought to twenty one the vacancies in the the teaching staffs of the county a condition that promises to be very serious with the opening of school less than one month off teachers for the vo canches existing in the grade schools will be filled by drafting former teachers but filling the vacancies in the two high schools will be a different matter the teacher shortage exists in every part of the state with the exception of the metropolitan districts and these districts are continually drawing teachers fr from am the country districts to fill their needs at mondays nie meeting eting of the school board the date for the opening of the iron county schools was set as tuesday morning september 4 with the rest of the school calendar also approved it calls for only one day off at th thanksgiving anks giving about ten days at christmas Chiist mas time with schools to close december for the christmas vacation and opening again on wednesday january 2 two or three days of saturday school may have to be held to make up the required number of days for the school year |
