Show NEW POSTAL regulation AFFECTS MAIL TO MEN NAVY AND MARINES starting with the issue we publish next week a new postal regulation will restrict our sending the ae paper to the men from here and in paragonah Para gonah who are arc in the navy marines coast guard and other maritime services we have been told that this new regulation would go into effect on july but know which branches of the service it would effect some sources of information stated that it included a all H branches while others said only the navy postmasters postmaster decker of Parc van and postmaster janson of cedar city in a conference yesterday co could uld f ind find no regulation but one affecting the navy marines etc this regulation states that a publisher can not mail copies of his publication to any man in those branches of service without having first received and filed with r the post master a written request and it pertains to all new and renewal subscriptions script ions this is done to lighten the load of this kind of mail by cutting off those who dont want or care about receiving the paper and will no doubt be extended to the other branches of the service this ruling effect those papers which are being mailed out to the boys in training stations in the U S but only to those with addresses which include fleet fice or who are on duty outside ot ol the united states nor does it effect those papers which are being mailed out via first class mail by families of the service men during duang the past several months many people are doing this with much better results as to our own knowledge copies of the times have gone to china and the far reaches of the pacific in from ten days to two weeks with delivery almost guaranteed in the case of other classes of mail I 1 it is known that this is delivered after first class mail and war supplies are all taken care of which make that mail very slow in going through with much being lost and so after this we week k no papers can be sent to navy or marine per bonnel outside continental united states until a request for such paper is filed with us and turned over to the postmaster for his approval unless it goes first class mail |
