Show city orders steel pipe for canyon row flow line at a special meeting of the paro wan city council on tuesday evening of this week city clifton halterman was authorized to order vor tor immediate use 1100 ft of cast iron pipe to put into the cites water system line in the canyon mr halterman made a request for flow line pipe at the last meeting and it was granted but the kind of pipe used heretofore in that line is not available now so he was instructed ted to order 1100 feet of a different kind of pipe which is heavier and should last longer this much pipe will wild make the canyon flow line all cast iron from the head house in the mouth of the canyon to the forbay there is also some cast iron pipe in the line above the forbay but much of the old wood line left between there and the six mile is in very bad condition the wood pipe which will be replaced by this new order for cast iron pipe is as bad or worse but with its being replaced the next purchase of pipe which I 1 is i s contemplated this fall will be placed above the forbay in the worst section to continue the improvement program this program of adding as much good pipe to the canyon flow line as finances would permit each year was inaugurated by the last administration and is being carried on by the present and in the future until the line is all made of that kind of pipe A motion was passed at the tuesday night meeting to allow limited pasturing and staking of the city streets from now until july as an emergency measure caused by the feed shortage the matter has caused some much heated arguments in three meetings during the month As passed at the last meeting the pasturing must toe be done un 31 r ghesu supervision the er vision offee of the city marshal along rules set up bythe by the council these rules and regulations are set forth in a notice found on page five of this issue of the times the council voted to have mayor W scott mitchell and councilman ray adams represent the city at the postwar post war planning meeting being held today in salt lake city by the utah state municipal league and which will make plans for keep ing employment going for all after the close of the war |
