Show MAY I 1 IS DEADLINE FOR riling FILING AAA intentions may 1 is the deadline for filing intentions to participate in the 1941 AAA farm program and any farmer who has not declared his intentions to be in the program this year by that day will be ineligible to earn payments or receive benefits declared J al palmer chairman of the iron county AAA committee today participation in the AAA program is more than just earning payments from the government it is cooperating with six million other othar farmers from all over the united states to conserve the fertility of the nations soil to improve the farm income and to insure to the country pl plenty enty of food for national defense mr palmer said there is a twofold two fold purpose an n making payments to farmers for cooperating in the program he said first farmers for a number of years have been receiving less than their share of the national income through monopolies and organization industry has had the advantage over unorganized organized un agriculture small payments to cooperating farmers help to offeit this disparity t of income through cooperation in acreage allotments and other feat ures of the program prices are sta stab b and farmers receive better prices than they would without this cooperation this improves the farm income 2nd and payments encourage farmers e ers rs to use certain soil building practices with which they improve their farms these payments seldom cover more than about half the cost of the practice but they do help the farmer fanner build the fertility of his farm this is an investment the nation is making in the future pros of the country it is helping to defend the nations soil our great est natural resource mr palmer said |
