Show forest money for roads in canyon forest service to spend on bowery and rive five mile roads other roads being improved fort forest road development funds to the amount ot of have been made available tor for improvident ot of parowan carowan canyon roads this season it was announced during the week by forest supervisor bettenson Bet ot of this amount approximately 2500 will be used for double tracking the road from main canyon to vermilion castle including a new bridge and will bo be used to improve the bowery or second lett left hand road mad commencement ot of the work on oil these roads awaits only the arrival ot of some new road building equipment the supervisor states and probably will be commenced within the mouth month first work will be done on the upper end ot of the bowery road with the idea that the lower end can be worked to ito better advantage than the upper it if cold weather cornea comes supervisor bettenson Bet states that work is progressing satisfactorily on several other roads within the forest the road read around the south side of navajo lake is being double tracked and graveled the road to strawberry point Is being graveled and some other stretches are receiving attention commenting on conditions on the forest the supervisor states that the fire hazard Is increasing dally daily during this hot dry weather and he reiterates the oft repeated request that people on the forest use extreme care to prevent disastrous fires several small fires have been started already including five caused by lightning but fortunately a IMI altot them have ve been extinguished without serious damage |
